This impressive building on "Arcadiou" street 154 was
constructed during the Venetian period and it is referred in documents as
"Palazzo del telegrafo in via dello Zar". It is also represented in a famous
17th century painting of the city (of unknown artist). It is a two-floor
building with a gilded front on the second floor.
A wooden balcony is also
distinguished on the top. The rooftop of the building is wood-made and
beautifully decorated, and was probably added during the Turkish period. The
majestic doorframe with the Doric order columns and triangular arc bears a
double inscription (in Turkish and Greek) praising the Lord (Allah), dated in
1844.
