This fountain, located on the crossway of the streets "P. Koroneou" and "Smyrnis", was probably constructed to service the visitors of the nearby "Yakhya Imbrahim" Mosque, built during the 17th century over the place of the "St. Sofia" church.
It is belongs to the same type of fountain as the one located in the Kara Mousha Pasha Mosque (Arcadiou street). The fountain was springing water until the 50's. The fountain's marble inscription writes:
"This fountain was built to provide water to the people,
and the one who will satisfy his thirst from this fountain,
may pray for the soul who made it" (1280 AD)
On the same fountain wall, a bit higher, a marble inscription writes: "this wall shall not be destroyed, for it was made by master Osman".
